Peace and Conflict Resolution
Peace and Conflict Resolution- The Centre for Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development (CDRMSD) partook in the 2023 national elections in Sierra Leone. 3 (2M, 1F) volunteers represented CDRMSD in two days intense training organized by the National Election Watch/NEW. The training mainly looked at Election Observation Handbook, Election Day Checklist and Voter Tally Sheet among other topics covered. After the training the 3 observers were all deployed in 3 different polling centres in the Bombali District to observe the elections.
Advocacy on the Environment - Climate Change/Justice & Disaster Risk Reduction
In collaboration with the Environment Protection Agency/EPA, secondary schools, journalists and other actors, the World Environment Day 2023 was commemorated on a theme: ‘’Beat Plastic Pollution. ’’ Plastic bags and sachets were collected in the municipality of Makeni. The commemoration was climaxed with commitments of statements by key actors to demonstrate readiness and support to protect the environment.
